In the engaging children’s picture book “Stunno’s Surf Adventure,” longtime surfing aficionado Mark Reside reveals some of the lure and lingo of a sport that leaves its participants yearning for just one more chance to seek out a monster set, smack the lip, and enter the green room.
Stunno’s surf adventure is a great little story about a surfing echidna that chooses to go exploring ‘up the coast’ after arriving at his favourite beach, only to see that it was ‘flat’ (no surf).
On one hand the story is about a surfer catching a wave, on the other, the book is a story about going a little further and getting rewarded for your effort.
The book’s rhyming narrative, combined with Tina Jacobson’s beautiful illustrations make it an engaging and inspiring tale ideal for children.
The use of Australian animals and iconic beach related images makes the book a great tool for educating young children about Australian beachside environment and culture.
